Datapharm in the Community - The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital
With a very professional-looking Koala as our mascot, Datapharm is passionate in supporting The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital and their efforts through adopting koalas. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital has helped rescue and rehabilitate koalas since 1973.
The Koala community was greatly impacted during the 2019-2020 bushfires and in 2022 they were officially listed as an endangered species. It is anticipated that by 2050, Koalas in NSW could become extinct due to continuing loss of habitat, disease and injury, unless action is taken now.
Two of the adopted koalas we sponsored are named Murwillumbah Bobby and Wauchope Jade.
In April 2022, we received exciting news that Wauchope Jade gave birth to joey Roto Jaz. Roto Jaz’s father was a survivor of the bushfires in 2019 having been badly burnt and unable to climb high into trees.
This year we celebrated Roto Jaz’s 1st birthday. Jaz is thriving and has now been moved to his own enclosure where he is enjoying life as an independent and adventurous young male.
One of our team members recently had the opportunity to meet Murwillumbah Bobby at the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. See photo below of Bobby in action.
We look forward to continuing to follow the progress of our sponsored Koalas and continuing to support the rescue and rehabilitation efforts of The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.
